Hi

I have been developing my B & W films from my Zorki 4 without any problem but in the last roll I have about 5 images like these:

where the left hand side appears darker (I have emphasised the problem in these two examples)

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be. It seems to have happened only on portrait orientation but I cant be sure a s the landscape images are darker at the bottom anyway.

looks as though you didn't use enough developer solution so the developer reached the end ot the film upon agitation but not as it sat between agitations.

What type of developing tank? If it was one that can take two reels, but only one reel was used, it could have slipped and held the film partially out of the developer.

It certainly appears to be a case where part of the film only had contact with the developer during the agitation cycle leaving it underdeveloped, thin and thus it prints darker than the properly developed side. This can easily happen either as Todd mentions or as NomadZ mentions.

Thanks for the replies. I've used the same quantity of developer as on previous films but I did winder if when loading the film it hadn't gone smoothly into the spirals so perhaps the flow was restricted.

Anyway it does rather confirm my thoughts as to the area I need to consider, thanks again
