See that diagonal line in the top center? What is it?

It shows up on the majority, but not all, shots with a Zuiko 85/2.

Peering into the lens, I don't see anything unusual.

Don't know your camera but I suspect it's a thread or fibre of some kind that is in the film gate or shutter. If it is and it moves then that might explain why it's not in every frame but when it is it's in the same position.
Have a really good look inside with a good light and try operating the shutter and diaphragm whilst looking through the lens from the back.

Have you checked to see if something is caught in the film plane?

Thanks. I'll take another good look at things in the morning when there's good light.

The camera is an OM2N. The mark doesn't show when I use other lenses.

If it only shows up on the 85, then I'd suspect a small thread is lodged somewhere in the lens and perhaps the action of focusing the lens moves it due to air movement. Could be something different; it will likely be difficult to track down.

Just in case you have not thought of this, when the camera does not have any film in it, open the door, put the shutter speed on bulb, and keep the shutter open while you inspect the lens and frame opening. That gives you more time to look around.

And, of course, the object you are looking for is going to be on the bottom of the lens opening, since it shows up at the top of the picture.

I had exactly the same thing on an OM ... it was a short fibre sticking up from the lower curtain rail.

I agree that it is less likely to be a lens issue, but the OP mentioned it seems to only happen with the 85. Put the 85 on another body, shoot a roll, and see if it shows up. Not a definitive test if the problem doesn't occur, but if it does, it pretty much identifies the lens as the culprit.

Keith may have won the prize. This morning I found, and removed, a short thread poking up at the right location. The next roll will tell.
