What's wrong with my curtains?

Just had a roll of film developed from my Leica II and two pictures, I shot at 1/500 showed this:

What happened there and can it be fixed in a CLA (which will happen in January anyway)
 
that's shutter capping. the second curtain moves faster than the first and the gap between the two closes. Capping mainly occurs at the higher speeds and is usually caused by poor curtain tensioning... it's fixable. I don't really suggest you do it yourself though.

OK, thanks I understand that.
As mentioned above, the camera will get a CLA in January, so I just add that on the list, to be fixed.
 
My 1932 black II started doing the same thing while photographing a Santa train in the bitter cold the other year.

It worked fine in warmer weather (above 60 deg F).

Time for a CLA.


( My Exakta SLR did the same thing while shooting another excursion train in late summer, but only at 1/1000 sec. Again, time for CLA )
