Anybody can tell me what's wrong with my MP? Light leak or shutter movement?:bang:
Almost all the pictures shot out door under bright sun light have this problem.
Thanks a lot!

ICBW but it looks like a sticky shutter - how old is it?

I might have suggested that you caught the speed dial with your finger, but that would produce over exposure.

Well, the speed dial on an MP doesn't rotate. Could be a film chip caught in the shutter?? Is this a neo-MP or the original one? If it's a new one, it looks like it needs warranty work. If the original, it may need a CLA.

Thanks for your suggestions!
It is the new "MP" with un-sealed viewfinder. There seems to be no flilm jamed in shutter.
After my one year old son dropped it, this problem occured.
Thanks!

I had a friend whose three year old squished a Hostess Twinky by forcing it between the back and shutter curtains of his brand new M6. Told him I wished I had been in Solms when he told them that story.

Looks like it needs to go back to Leica, for sure.

It does look like your shutter is traveling unevenly - though on the 2nd shot the "banding" on the right looks suspiciously like a light leak.
As for food stuff in/on cameras: I once send a M4P in for service and got a phone call back "Tom, when you eat chocolate ice-cream - swing the camera to the side".

From this statement I would guess you shot them at the 1000th speed. It looks to me like the speed is too fast. I had this problem on an M2. Looks like first curtain spring tension is too low from the pics. You can check yourself by taking the lens off, opening up the back and firing the shutter with the camera in front of an old style tv. At 1000 you should see a curved line from top curving to the left approx 2-3 mm wide. As you change to 500 and 250 the line widens. This is how I checked mine, adjusted the curtain roller tension and then fine tuned with a home made speed tester.
You can of course pay someone $$$ to do it for you.
Perhaps before you do mess with it, do a test roll at the 1000, 500 and 250 speeds and identify that this is indeed the problem.

I got it! Thank you all for these suggestions.
Yes, all these shots were at speed 1000. I think the shutter needs service.
This MP is the earlier batch with M6 type ISO dial, and I am not the original owner, so will leica provide warranty for it?
My son dropped my MP and EPSON R-D1. The R-D1 survived. I really regretted that I always encourage him to throw his basket ball around.
