Just bougt a 65mm mamiya 7 lens on ebay. Beside the lens arrived very very dusty, it seems everything is fine with it. Serial number is PB1376. When I mount the lens on my Mamiya 7, the correct frame shows up. But, but, but... I can't shoot with it! Seems the body don't recognize the lens at all!!! First, I was thinking that the sensor were dusty as everything else. Just clean everything very carrefully and nothing is bether?

Any advise? Return de lens to the seller? Anybody seen that before?

JFN,

Could you please give us specific details? My guess is that if the proper frameline is coming up you don't have a coupling issue, but there is not enough info to help you.

There is one thing you could try. There is a small lever at the back of the lens. Move it all the way to the end of the slot - you may here a kind of click. Then put it on your camera and see if it works.

If you take long exposures and the battery dies during the exposure, the shutter needs to be reset. This lever does this when the film is wound on, but winding on is not possible when the battery dies and so you need to do it manually.

If this does not work, send it out for repair.

What can I say more? Of course the curtain is released!!! But shutter just seems not to respond. From time to time, when I jiggle with the on/off swith of the body, I get a click! But of course this not good for a photograph... Other lens works and this is clearly not a body issue. Contacts were carefully cleaned. I could return the lens but would love to get it work to avoid any loose of time and money.

Thanks everyone for helping!

I recently picked up a used 65mm and my Mamiya 7II doesn't seem to recognize it. When I press the shutter release there is a slight "click" in the body, but the shutter never fires. Very frustrating...

I found your post when I was searching for answers about what might be wrong, and I'm wondering if you have figured out what is causing the problem yet? Also, did you have to send your camera/lens to Mamiya, or were you able to have someone else fix it?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

No...

No...

I was not able to fix the lens. My usual technician says it's a problem with the contacts in the lens. I'm sending back the lens to the seller...
