What's Wrong With This Picture?

Attached shot is representative of a roll of Fuji Superia 200 just back from the lab that I shot on a trip to the Mediterranean. Another 11 rolls I took with my Bessa R2 and 35mm lens were OK. The lens has a hood. The film was not unloaded in the sun.Can you tell if the poor color, blemishes, etc. were caused by flare, excessive x-rays, lab error, defective film or what? Thanks for any suggestions.

Is this from a negative scan or a print?

My guess is that the processing went sour and left a fair amount of chemical residue on the film. Have you tried using some Photo-Flo and water to wash off the film?

Looks like lab error to me - a dirty or damaged neg to be more exact. Nothing in-camera that I know of could have an effect like that.

The thumbnail is from the lab's scan onto CD but the same residue is on the neg.
