What's your developer choice?

just one Rodinal

just one Rodinal

hi every one
i use just one: rodinal at 1+50
why?
i am a bit lazy so i tried an other one (tmax, do not love it, let it down)
i love sharp grain so rodinal is the right dev for that
economic
i use it with tri-x at all iso (200,400,800,1000, 135 and 120 format), neopan 400 (120 format) and tmax 3200 at 1000 asa
i like the results but maybe other dev are ok for other people
francois
nb: two examples tmax 3200 at 1000 rod 1+50
tri-x 400 at 400 rod 1+50

I used PMK for a while, until a brand new kit did not work.

I have gone back to D76 made at home from raw chemicals. I use the same chemicals ( I bought enough to make 100 gallons) and mixed, it lasts 6 months for $3 a gallon, or $.75 a liter. I mix two batches a year and never had a single failure like I had with HC110 and Xtol and PMK.

D76 will nicely turn brown if it is no good. It is stored in 4 or 8 oz glass bottles with nylon cone seals in the lids right after mixing. never lost any yet.

Agfa NZ is being very cagey about the whole A+O thing. Not returning calls, when I do talk a human I get bounced around the phone exchange until they find me a machine to talk to, Wilde emails neither say 'yay' nor 'nay'. I'm getting the same run around that I got from Fuji NZ over Acros.
I might actually go and visit their head office, as it's only 2 minute walk around the corner from work, worst they can possibly do is set the receptionist on me... then again they are Germans ;)

I'm having serious withdrawal symptoms right now, no more Rodinal, Classic, Neutol. Still have enough Viradon to poison the extended family fives times over :)

However... I've like have a go at pyro one day.

Stu :)

Rodinal is my poiison of choice for most things
But DDX (or Clayton F76+) are getting more and more use.

If you can;t find rodinal around you may try Donald Qualls Rodinal substitute made with paracetamol (acetaminophen/Tylenol). Google for Parodinal or ParaRodinal and you will find the formula, otherwise email me and I'll send you a formula
