What's your ideal lens and make with RD-1?

Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50/2, Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2, Jupiter-8 50/2. 🙂

I had the Ultron 35/1.7 for about a year, but for some reason never used it. Not because of the image quality, which I have heard is excellent, but I didn't like the shape! Call me nuts...

Anyway, I like the Rokkor 40mm f2 and also the 28/1.9 Ultron.

But I see you've already got the 40mm Nokton- I'd start with that - it matches the 35mm framelines very well, and is more compact and faster than the 35.

yes I think I will start with the 40mm

If I were on a desert island with my RD1, and could only have one lens? 😉
I guess I would go for the 40mm M-Rokkor. If I could take two lenses then I'd bring the 28 Ultron too.

I've come to think of the 28 Ultron as a "big" lens (in terms of size), but it's a relative thing. It makes some of my SLR lenses seem as large as a roll of duck-tape.

I use the 35/1.7 Ultron as my standard lens on the R-D1. Gives a FOV around 50mm, and I like the results a lot.

I had trouble with the Ultron 35/1.7 front focussing on the RD1, moreso than with my leica 50/2. Tried two different VC M mount converters with the same results. Just picked up a 35/1.4 and it focuses fine. Its my current favorite on this camera.
