Whats your photographic pet peeves?

"Films" --Sounds as dumb as 'Vinyls'

"Bokeh" --Makes me cringe. All I hear when someone says 'bokeh' is 'I don't even see your picture, all I see is a characteristic of the lens.'

When shooting digital, friends, asking to see every photo of them as soon as I take it. One of the reasons I now take my film camera to every outing with family, friends. No more chimping ha,ha,ha....look on their face when they see there is no screen at the back of my camera is priceless...

Intellectual laziness. Sure it's easy for just about anyone to judge everything by nearly meaningless technical standards, but it isn't that hard to engage your brain a little.

edit: Also, "I just do this for fun." Everyone knows that challenging yourself is dumb, boring, and a waste of time.

what irritates me is rff people calling a Zeiss Ikon "cheap":D
or Leica prices "reasonable" :D

More seriously, what annoys me is tourists complaining that people "get into their shot" which is the uber-important 23 243 344th shot of the Eiffel tower or such.
I managed however to convince my girlfriend, that it is OK to have people in her photos (people she doesnt know). :D

PS: whats the problem with Helmut Newton??

oh yea, reading through the other peoples' pet peeves..i remembered one more:
i went to a Madonna show (yea kick me), would have been actually nice and we were 10 meters from the stage but whenever she walked out there, a bazillion of smartphones were lifted up with two bazillions of arms to take that 257th burned-out blurry green shot of her and therefore it was nearly impossible to see anything. And i'm 1.80m - my girlfriend is 20cm lower, you can imagine her frustration between the Dutch.

Probably people who say about their cameras "it's just a tool", but then insist on having various collectors edition Leicas. Basically photographers who pretend it's all about the photos, but only obsess over gear. Nothing wrong with loving the gear, but don't pretend you don't!

When using film airport security controls.

All the time the existence of different standards for things which shouldn't require that. For example why so many cables to use Pocket Wizards with different flash/camera combinations, why a lens manufacturer produces a profile for correcting distortion of its lenses in Lightroom, another in Photoshop but you need to run a certain version, and having the same profile for any of the lenses in Gimp is a nightmare...

The paranoia against cameras many countries developed after 9.11 (I know, I know, terrorists take pictures of models in parks all the time and they use soft-boxes instead of umbrellas).

Not being able to print a large format colour film without passing through a digital scan.

Collectors inflating the value of old cameras they buy and don't even use...

"There is a very small dent near xxxx" but no photo from that angle posted.

"Buyer pays the Paypal fee" Just FYI, Paypal prohibits that practice.

"Will take [item name]. I'm in [country name]. Can you give me some discount? LOL." Really? actually got this message with "LOL" included.
