To turn the coin on the photographic pet peeves thread, let's hear about your photographic pleasures -- those things that give you a warm fuzzy feeling inside. Let's hear some favorite topics of discussion that are beyond that of gear talk!

For me, I greatly enjoy hearing about the artist's methodology behind composing a photo and the story that happened immediately before -- and after -- the photo was taken. What was this moment that was entombed? Why? How does the composition differ and deliver a message that is different or enforces reality?

On the subject of gear, I like to hear more about films of choice, development styles, and actual or digital darkroom techniques used for final presentation.

Just cleaned my M6 (and 28mm Elmarit) and loaded it up with roll of Ektar. Placed it gently into the camera bag all ready to go...made me all fuzzy and warm inside...

Now, I just have to find time to get out of the house....

Seeing a good print come to be in the developer....still by far the biggest photographic wow going in my experience...

I second that. Nothing tops this photographically for me. No matter how many times I see it, it never fails to induce the feeling that I am witnessing magic. The anticipation of waiting for the image to settle in as I wait for that perfect moment to snatch the print from the developer always gives me a rush.

When I get a box of film back from North Coast Photo...I only send out when I have a bunch of rolls, so every 1-2 months. Lovely to get them back!

The sound of the shutter, the feeling that you got the shot, seeing visible negatives on the strip of film as it is removed from the developing reel, and the print image appearing in the developer tray. Then, seeing the print in a frame. Positive reactions from others appreciating ones work.
