When will I stop worrying about the camera..

If it's up and down play as you hold the lever in your picture, the ring around the shutter button that holds down the film winding lever, may need tightening, or there may be a washer under that ring that may have flattened and needs replacing.

Up and down not normal. If it's out of warranty worry about it if it falls off. You can probably tighten it up by using something like this to turn the silver collar around the shutter button.

A little movement is OK. There is a spring washer that allows this.

Use it until something else goes wrong. Then have it serviced and this checked out as well.

Use a sheet of sticky rubber, used in the kitchen to grip jar lids, to rip the ring and tighten it with your fingers.

Dan, I just looked at your recent threads ...

You really seem worried about this one. Any of the possible defects you mention can be fixed in a < US 300 CLA. Not a big deal considering the value of the equipment. You can either have the CLA done now for peace of mind in terms of the camera matching the specs, or when the camera will have a show stopping functional issue (for example broken meter, shutter hole, etc.).

Again, I recommend to relax and just use it .... these are hand-assembled, mechanical devices, not as perfect as, say, a modern machine assembled DSLR, for instance.

We want pictures taken with your MP !!! :)

Roland.

Roland, Ive got mild OCD.

I sometimes need to lock in the lens a few times, just to be SURE it clicked :bang:

Sometimes good to discover the nature of your camera.

If there is up-and-down play, it could be that the collar around the shutter button is loose. But even if it is tight, the lever is held down by a spring washer, which permits a "snug" amount of give, and controlled slippage.

It is tight...

Also noticed that the shutter release on my MP feels a bit ummm... different when compared to my M6. MP release feels a bit like those on M7s.
Requires a wee bit of force, M6 smooth all the way.

The MP wasnt used much by the previous owner. And i just shota roll since purchase last week. Guess it just needs some exercising!
