I'm still looking for a pre-ASPH Summicron 35 and can't seem to find any aywhere. They had a couple at KEH a month or so ago and I should have bought one, but I didn't have enough cash at the time. I can't find any on the fleaBay either. What gives?

They all seem to be closely guarded - it took me 2 years to track down my v4, and prices are just horrendous!

Well maybe I just bought the last one on the planet ;-). New condition, and I bought this lens to use it..not to collect it. I really hope you will find a good one too. In combination with my m6 this is just a great photography tool... and I hope to show you my first captured moments soon.

I was asking myself the same question this AM. Wouldn't mind owning two 35s, already have a IV.

Just got my v4 a couple weeks ago through a local camera shop. Yes, pretty darn difficult to find at a good price. Came with the hood too...

Re pre-ASPH 35mm Summicrons
Re pre-ASPH 35mm Summicrons
Mine, which I bought in the 1990s, has been under the bed in a plastic case in the front bedroom of my house since I bought it used in the 1990s. However, when I last retrieved it, I discovered a horror: The rear lens cap had come off and the lens itself had moved on top of and impacted T. Abrahammson's rapid winder, and there are now two distinct claw impression-type gouges on the surface of the proximal lens element! Ouch, ouch, ouch!!!!

I just saw a couple on ebay - maybe last week or so. Not sure what they went for.

Sold my first version for 1500. Bought a Summaron 2.8 still in the box-mint condition for 200. That left me with 1300 to spare. Can't account for the 1300 however. Stu

Sell? Have a chome 4th version which I've said I would not sell, but with a 35 Summilux aspherical, a 35 Summaron, and a 1.8/35 Nikkor 2005 you never know... Still you can never have enough 35mm lenses

I have had mine for 15+ years now. It's my favourite lens, hence not for sale.
I've got two hoods for it, one still new in box, the other one still going strong even though it's cracked in 4 places.

Bought mine new in 1996. It had a stiff focusing ring then and still does today despite a lot of use. It's worse in cold weather. A trip to Leica and a trip to Sherry have made little difference. Sherry blames poor quality control in manufacturing. Nevertheless, a great lens.

That's what you get for ignoring her all these years......no seriously, sorry about her injury, my condolences.
