Where can I find a Russian 35mm for Bessa R?

Hi all,

I am a student and I like the fact that I can buy cheap Russian glass for my new Bessa R (I realize they are hit or miss)....So basically, what lenses can I find for $100 or less that I assume would have to be Russian and are 35mm? I read in an earlier post that the Jupiter 12 doesn't work...what does for the same price? Thanks!

well I know about fedka, thanks for the advice...but he doesn't have any 35mm russian lenses for the leica screw mount except for the jupiter 12...wish there was something else out there 🙁

Consider non-Russian 35mm lenses instead. The Canon 35/2.8 for instance
can sometimes be had for US 100-150. Or you could go for a 28mm Orion,
slow but very high contrast and sharp.

Best would be to wait for a Color Skopar for around US 200 or so.

As far as i know the Jupiter 12 is the only Soviet 35 in LTM.

Some of the later model J-12 will fit on the R but they will block the meter sensor.

I JUST found a canon 35mm f/1.5 39m mount on ebay. Funny you mentioned that at the same time. Well I will see how much it goes...anyway, I just may save up. Thanks

Unless you are very lucky, the 1.5 will go over US 500 is my guess. Sorry.

The only russian 35mm is the J-12. Save up and get a color skopar 35/2.5. You will be glad you did. Canon 35mm seems to go high in price. I have already gone through what you are going through. I got the color skopar for my R.

No problem. I dislike the Orion due to it being so slow and it being prone to flare.

What about the Leica Summaron 35mm F3.5? Will this fit the Bessa R? Is this an L39 mount? Thanks

The russian Jupiter 12 35/2.8 in LTM mount don't fit with Bessa R/R2 or Canon 7/7s cameras, because the back lens protrude too deeply into the camera.
