Short story: I am running out of film, and I would like to find a store near Nottingham, UK or a website that sells cheap BW 35mm film.
Long story: I am from the US, and I usually buy film from freestylephoto.biz. I mostly use Neopan 400 or LegacyPro 400. Currently I am an exchange student at the University of Nottingham, and I have no idea where I can get film, except from a few shops I have passed in Nottingham that charge 5 pound for a roll of film. I may have bought some, but it isn't even the film I prefer. Is this the normal price for film in the UK?
So where do the UK members of RFF buy their film, preferably Neopan 400 (or rebranded Neopan) and Neopan 1600? The cheapest I have found so far is from the fujifilm website. I am also somewhat interested in shooting so 35mm slides, as I have found a place that processes E6 for 2 pound in London.
I will be looking to get chemicals and equipment to process film soon and to get BW paper. I would appreciate any suggestions or DONATION
for this stuff as well.
Thanks

Have you tried the various Fomapan films? Silverprint carries it at £1.60/roll for ISO100, or £2.06/roll for ISO200 & 400.

I agree 7 Day Shop for film. Try Speed Graphic for chemicals and paper http://www.speedgraphic.co.uk/
Good luck

As has already been recommended, and also Ag Photographic - www.ag-photographic.co.uk (nice blokes in Brum).
I would also have recommended www.retrophotographic.co.uk, but their website seems to be down (and has been for a while).
If you're ever down in London, Silverprint is a great place to go and stock up, they also run student offers (something like 25% off Foma films and Ilford from what I recall last year).

My personal experience with Retro wasn't great. 2-3 weeks to deliver something and no contact at all in that time despite repeated telephone messages and e-mails.
If I don't buy locally (I'm lucky to have a great shop under a mile from my front door stocking everything) it's 7 Day Shop (though delivery can take up to a week, but they're reliable) or Ag.
Sometimes Calumet can be cheap too, I often stock up when in Milton Keynes as their UK HQ is there and they do great prices on Fuji, e.g. 5 x 400H 120 for just over £11 inc VAT.

It seems that cheapest Neopan can be purchased directly from fuji uk, around £2.20 a roll when buying pack of ten. For films other then fuji try 7dayshop or Silverprint.

www.mathersoflancashire.co.uk - generally good prices and sometimes out of date stuff. Also a vote for 7dayshop if you're in no rush. Non uk film - ie not Ilford - can be expensive, generally.

There are a couple of cheap internet based film suppliers in the Uk
http://www.mailshotsuk.co.uk/
and
http://discountfilmsdirect.co.uk/shop/acatalog/Black_and_White_Film.html
Discount films direct are even a Nottingham based company they tend be the cheaper and currently have an offer on slide film. For processing try Genie imaging
http://www.genieimaging.co.uk/index_red.htm
but I guess you know that already

I second, third or fourth (whatever) 7dayshop.com for cheap film.
I also seem to recall a thread on one of the AP forums that Retrophotographic are no longer trading.

If this is the place I think it is, check any postage costs as they raise the price quite a bit.

Also try the expensive shops from time to time because they will often reduce their price as the "Dev. before" date approaches. I've bought packs of 3 cassettes for prices in pennies (35p several times) before now (thanks to Waitrose).
Usually they halve the price then halve again.
Other than that I'll go along with the 7dayshop supporters and, of course, ebay.

Been thinking about this ever since and looking.
If you want inexpensive branded film from your high street then the best bet would be Boots. They sell 5 boxes of Fujifilm C200 24 exp in a plastic bag called "Holiday Pack" at £7-99.
So roughly eight pounds for five, or sixteen for ten, which is just under £1-60 a cassette.
Hope this is some use to someone, somewhere in the UK.
