I had the opportunity yesterday to pick up a nice early Nikkormat FTn with the Nikkor Micro 55mm 3.5 P Auto lens at a good price. Other than replacing the light seals, which I've already ordered from Jon Goodman, I neet to find the left "Nikkormat" nameplate screw. Anyone have one from a parts camera or have an idea where I might find one? I have already checked Pacific Rim Camera, but no luck there. Thanks, and have a great holiday time. GF

Exactly. I doubt it uses a one-off screw for that purpose. I'm sure that you can find one that will fit -- probably from another Japanese camera.

It would help to know the length of the remaining screw, and what type head that it is.

Brian, good thought about the screw dimensions. It is a silver-colored, single slot bevel head screw; .29" long, threaded half its length, the head diameter is .098", and the diameter of the unthreaded shank is .064". Under the name plate the screw passes through a cylindrical brass spacer about 1/8 of an inch in length. The only donor camera body I have is a Yashica SLR and none of the screws are long enough. Thanks for the critical thoughts. GF

Okay, that helps. The nameplate screw for the EL2 is too long, 0.325". The other dimensions are correct, it is a Philips head.

I know what to look for.

hi...

hi...

just happened to be staring at a new(ish) nikkormat FTn project camera on my bench. I have two phillips screws on the nameplate- I am going to assume metric measurements, so you need an m1.6 x 7 screw.

That is a 1.6mm major diameter, 7mm length. I am going to assume pitch is standard for 1.6mm screws, as I do not have my pitch guage handy.

McMaster-carr has a lot of small screw sizes.

ok- so the m1.6 is a bit loose (i have a box of m1.6 cheeseheads sitting around). So the screw is probably an m1.7.

But the 1.6 screws do fit, and I have plenty of them, but they are a bit long. They fit into my Ftn nameplate just fine, not sure if they would affect anything else.

Anyway, if you want them, shoot me a pm or email.

Matt
