My friend with ADD suffering from brain cancer was playing with my CL. It's now in parts where can I have it put back together. He removed some screws. It need to be over hauled.

The Sherry myth keeps getting bigger and bigger. She works on CL's yes but she certainly isnt the only one. Depending what country you live in, it would vary who the best person to send it too would be.

I know the prior owner of my better CL had DAG overhaul it. I don't have his info here, I'm travelling. Both Sherry and DAG are in the US, so as Captain says, where you are may make the shipping to them prohibitive.

I have one (that is for sale, btw) that I got from Sherry K freshly overhauled. It was and is superb - I highly recommend her work on CLs.

Just shows how US-centric is some people's thinking. There is a world beyond your coastline, you know, and, surprise though it might be, there are competent camera repairers elsewhere who are more than capable of CLAing a CL (mine included).
Mind you, the question itself was equally unhelpful.

The OP seemed to think this was useful information, so why are you so upset? If he specified his geographical location and it was outside the U.S. I'm sure there would have been good suggestions.
FWIW I had Horst here in Vancouver, B.C. do a superb job of getting my CL up to speed.

It was very useful information indeed, in the circumstances, since apparently both inquirer and source are located in the US. Who wouldn't be satisfied? My issue was with the subtext (which you unwittingly support): that, unless specified, all life takes place within the USA. And I find it hard to explain why I was nettled by it at the time -- maybe I had heard it just once too often. My apologies.
[For what it's worth, I too have heard nothing but good about Sherry Krauter. If I were living over there I'd have no hesitation in asking her to work on a sick CL. Or any other Leitz kit. I have no problem whatsoever with US-based outfits. Greg Weber recently helped out with my Koni-Omega, for example. And for LF, there's a chap in Chicago, whose name escapes me for the moment, who is second to none.]

Its does get a bit frustrating especially when it comes to repair recommendations so I sympathize. I have heard it referred to as the "World Series Syndrome" which really has nothing to do with the world LOL. For what its worth though I dont think its done deliberately most in the USA dont evern realize they do it.

Hi, I have A CL too which the problem is that the viewfinder guide may be very 'dim' or totally non-existant and i was unable to focus. I read an article which this is due to the vapour deposited aluminum layer which the prism is coated with , deteriorating , to such an extent that the relfective properties are no longer there .
So I am located in South East Asia in the country of MALAYSIA.
Any advise how should I go about it? Is it worth fixing it?
I have tried to email to Sherry Kauter but no reply.
Shipping it to USA to get it repair might cost me a bomb.
Any chance where I could purchase this parts & get it fix by local technician here?
Thanks

... likes film again.
My CL has a similar problem, quite de-silvered prism. CRR Luton can repair this, the prism has to be re-silvered. It is not an uncommon problem with Leica CL ...

Don't email CRR Luton
Don't email CRR Luton
CRR Luton usually have an email backlog; best to phone or fax (details on website)
Yes they will work on Leicas from non-UK customers; when posting be sure to mark the parcel "IPR Suspension; for repair and return" otherwise UK Customs & Excise slap them with a VAT (sales tax) bill which will have to be passed on the customer

Hi
Thanks for the Info.
I notice you are from Kuala Lumpur as well.
By the way, have you tried sending it to them for repair?
