I need service on my brand new MP (1 year +). Anyone know of good place that'll do a simple RF adjustment, and turn it around relatively quickly (and not whack me on the cost)? TIA!

what is wrong with the "new" MP, if is ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's out of alignment at infinity, otherwise it's working fine. I got it in Feb 2006 and the warranty period expired four months ago. The dealer won't take it in for repair. I don't blame him, rules are rules, even if it is a simple RF adjustment. It would have been a nice gesture, though, but I'll try Sherry. I know a couple of RFFers that swear by her as a great individual to deal with. I'll just have to skim some off the new lens budget.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I concur re Sherry. Sent her an M5 for battery adjustment, a sometimes sticky rangefinder coupling arm, and an infinity adjustment, and she had it turned around in about 10 days. Conversations with her are interesting as well.

DAG has a 6-8 week turnround. He's a perfectionist though. I would think if you called him, agreed a price and sent a check with the body he'd do it quickly.

Ray, if you haven't done anything yet, you might want to check with Youxin Ye. He is pretty quick, and I'm sure he would be able to turn your camera around in a day or so.

Ray, I thought the MPs came with a 5-year Passport warranty?

I am almost positive of this as well - in some cases Leica extended the original passport to 5 years.

I got mine new/used from Popflash. I think I lost the 5-year Passport warranty (unless someone knows sometihng I don't). What happened to to the 5-year warranty for this camera? I don't know, but I'd like to know how that works.

I bought a new US Passport M7 in Oct. 2005. You have to return the warranty card to Leica within a specified period after the sale. I think that period is 1 month. You must also include a copy of the sales receipt so Leica can check if you bought from an authorized Leica US dealer. If Leica USA like what they see, you get a 3 year warranty. You may extend that warranty to 5 years at any point in those first 3 years with a payment of $120.

I don't think Youxin works on anything newer than the M4/M4-2/M4P.

I think you're right. I had a conversation with Youxin and I remember him saying that he didn't work on any of the newer models. He was working on my M4P at the time.
