Where did all the filters go?

Tiffen will remain an option - their filters are glass mounted gelatin, and would not be affected by cancellations in the glass foundry catalogues.

Damien, I had been considering step up rings but it mades hoods hard to use. Best thing to do would obviously be to have lenses all the same filter size, but even with unlimited funds (which I don't have!) that's pretty difficult to accomplish.

Got ya, had forgotten about hoods, as I do not use them too much myself. I wouldn't change your lenses to suit filters, but would consider another possibility. If the hood fits onto a bayonet thread, it may work if you put the hood on, screw in a filter of the native size of your filter thread, and then screw a step up ring into this filter.

This may work, or at least does with my Sonnar-C, which takes 46mm filters, where I cannot put both the hood and a step-up ring (46-52) onto the lens at the same time. If I put the hood on, screw in a 46mm uv filter I have, then I can screw the step up ring onto that. Not sure if this will work in your case, but could be worth a shot/ worth exploring.

setup some automatic search agents, this helps.

I even have an almost complete set for my Retina II 🙂

It's crazy but one of my biggest lens selection factors for me is filter size. I'm a b&w film shooter and like yourself I shoot with color filters. Having only one size saves on filter buying and it also saves a lot of space when out on the field. For me I grab the stack of 46mm filters and go. You seem to need to buy all your filters at once, I've slowly accumulated mine from the bay and sellers here on rff as they come up.

My other rule of thumb is to never sell a good filter even if you no longer use the size. You just might need it again a couple years down the road.

Well I don't absolutely need them all at once, it just makes it easier and less costly to get them all at once from one place because of the international shipping.

Fotoimpex in Germany have been very helpful, they are trying to find out from Heliopan if all the sizes and colour combinations I'm after are available, so hopefully I can get them all from them at once.
