Where do you get your B/W's developed?

I do my B&W film myself, with the exception of chromogenic (C41 process) B&W. I scan the results.

I have mine processed by this really lazy guy who can't seem to get the work done in a timely fashion.

Oh wait -- that's me. I'm behind by about 50 rolls or so. One day, it will become someone else's "found film."

I used to - until the last 6mos develop and print myself. I now use Dwaynes. I found I just don't have the time these days. Then, your D76 would oxidize, or you would run out of the many consumables - fixer, paper, stop, or the stuff that stops water
streaks, printer ink, or have oxidized Dektol. Then you either have to scan or print all those negs... I found I always had a backlog of several rolls...

It's managable with the limited number of frames in 120... not - imo, with 35. I use 36 frame rolls. Old school - they used to do contact sheets and only print a few frames per roll. I'm from the 1 hr photo color print lab mindset where I want all my frames printes on 6x4's just "t'have" - good bad or ugly, and not have to "enjoy" tiny little frames on a contact sheet. Ones I really like, a few a year, I'll enlarge.

Know what? Dwayne's do a pretty darn good job and are fast processing and shipping. Far more consistent than I could ever print. They charge around what most places charge for color prints. 35 mm? Send it off to Dwayne's..

My boss has a darkroom that he lets me use. I know I don't need a darkroom to develop but it's nice to be able to do everything in one room, including contact sheets and prints.

I'm in the process of clearing out my laundry room to add a laundry sink. Then I will probably do some at home.

My C-41 B&W is developed & scanned to cd @ places like Wal Mart. Regular B&W is developed at home. I think when my c-41 b&w is used up that's gonna be it. I'm getting tired of the hit & miss technique they use in the development. Most of the time the whites come out looking pinkish. With the b&w I develop @ hame I don't have that worry & I have more control of the outcome.

Traditional B&W I do in the laundry room. I found a great lab tech at a Costco who pays extra attention to my B&W C-41 film and changes the default settings to provide hi-res TIFFs when scanning.

Negative B+W film I develop in my bathroom. Then I usually scan the results to see which ones I might wet print at my school where i am able to use the very old darkroom. It is kept locked, so I am able to keep my own enlarger and chemicals for use.

I have a guy named "Sam" who loves to develop film and make prints too...he's a total "Control Freak" and feels that no one else can do what he does with my B&W negs...
