Where have all the Elmars gone?

I know it´s hard to belive, but with 365.852 5cm Elmar f3.5 (LTM) made😱 - not a single one available for trade.
Is it normal?

Well, I have one but it is staying with me. I think lots of owners don't want to part. Maybe because they are simply made for the Barnacks. The smallest possible package.

KEH has one I think, bargain grade. Maybe you could sell the straps and buy it?

I havent seen one up for sale in the classifieds recently (I dont browse the WTT part though).

I also have one that is part of my IIIc set. I have also been looking for one to use so I can keep that one pristine. I haven't seen one here for a while. Right now I'm using a Fed 50 as my "user" lens.

yap, three 😀:
one in nickel 11 o'clock position, two in chrome one without number 😉.
They are really brilliant, eaven with color film by an uncoated lens.

Most have been trashed by over cleaning or have been fogged so badly people hesitate to pay for a repair.

I have a semi bad uncoated with a few scratches, a mint red scale, mint 50 2.8 first version, mint 50 2.8 last version. All except the uncoated are wonderful lenses and each is unique in it`s own way.

I am sitting on four and will for the foreseeable future.

Red Dot Cameras have four in their list currently - it's where I got mine from about a year ago.

They also have some other very interesting LTM lenses in at the moment - a choice of two Mountain Elmars....

I just got a beautiful and pretty rare "uncoated" Elmar f3.5/50 in "Feet" today, together with that Kriegsmarine Leica IIIC ~ it was more than likely, one of the LAST Elmar lenses sold to America or Great Britain late June/early July 1939, while Leitz New York and English Importers pulled the plug on lenses in mid to late August.

Pre-war and "wartime" Elmar`s are getting, harder and harder to find in good shape, they are the Leica lens of all lenses, still perfect for that classic look in Leica 35mm, they excel in black and white photography, I just love them! 😀
