Where Is Plustek 120 In The Us???

i have been wanting to get one and can't find anything available in the US!:bang: Do you guys know when this will be readily available? I could get in in Europe but it will at least cost $500 with shipping, and $ to L conversion!

Looks like you can order it from Adorama or B&H Photo in New York City.

I called both and they don't have them. B&H even told me that they are not accepting pre orders anymore as they are not even sure when or if they will be getting the PLUSTEK. The agent from B&H even called Plustek to ask them for the Plustek 120 and they can't answer him as well. Anyway, based on costumer service, B&H actually goes above and beyond to answer inquiries... Adorama? Eh... the agent was reading a script or something! Anyway, I know there is a guy from Plustek that roams this board and hope he stumbles to answer my post.

I spoke with Mark @ Plustek back at the end of January. He indicated then that they (i.e., Plustek U.S.) were unpacking and checking each and every scanner that the received from the production facility. I was fairly high up on Adorama's pre-order list such that I was told that I should have a scanner by the end of February. It's now mid-April and no scanner. My guess is that they're having difficulty correcting production issues related to focusing, which is why I (having pre-ordered from a large retailer) have yet to see a scanner. I'm thinking of canceling my pre-order and wait until the scanners get into the system and users confirm that the issues have been addressed.

What do you think if i get it in Europe instead of waiting here? I know it is available there. The thing though, it will cost aroudn $2500 with the conversion of the US dollar to British. I have an V750 on the way from B&H and was thinking to either return it and just get the Plustek 120. Please help me decide on what action i should take. By the way, I shoot a ton of 35mm and will be doing a fair amount of medium formats too. Thanks again !

I hope that those customers in Europe get good use out of their scanners, I am happy that they were able to get their hands on them. I suspect that eventually a few will show up over on this side of the Pond.

Personally, I finally cancelled my pre-order with B&H when it became obvious the US wasn't getting the scanner anytime soon. I kept getting the "We apologize" e-mail from B&H, even while reading that others had received their scanners.

I filed a strong protest with B&H, asking why they had accepted pre-orders if scanners weren't being distributed in the US? I will come up with an alternate. My little V500 is still chugging along, and though I am not happy with the 35mm scans, I will work to improve them. If necessary I'll use my Pentax Bellows and slide copier to "scan" those few film shots that really have promise.

For that matter, I still have a darkroom. I do not have to scan all my 35mm images. Contact sheets are still a great option for preview and I can enlarge the occasional decent shot on the old Beseler. I shouldn't complain. I am lucky to still have options that others may not have.

Got the same thing too but it could be more of an administrative thing on B&H's side than actual reality. I'd relax until actual real updates could be had from either Plustek or B&H.

Got the same e-mail from B&H saying this has been discontinued.... I tried contacting Plustek yesterday and was told to call Mark ( i think he posts here regularly). i haven't heard back from him yet. I sent him an e-mail and a voicemessage. Anyway, this is not a good sign... I was ready to pull the trigger and just buy it in Europe too but if this is not even being rolled out in the US, then something must be off... damn... this would have been a great product given the resurgence of film users...

I'm going to get out in front of this one and cancel my order. With this kind of delay I'm sure Plustek believes the problems to be quite serious. The prudent approach, in my mind, is to wait until the scanners have been in the system for some time and inventories indicate some degree of confidence in the machine by the manfacturer.

OpticFilm 120 Update

April 19, 2013. Recently we discovered a component used in the manufacture of the OpticFilm 120 does not meet our quality standards. This problem effects less than 10% of the scanners that have been manufactured and sold to date. However, we have decided to temporarily stop shipping the scanner until the issue can be completely resolved. Plustek is working with a 3rd party to identify a permanent resolution to this problem.

We do not expect this delay to be extensive. However, we do not have a firm date when shipment will resume. This page and our Facebook page will be updated weekly to keep you informed of the latest information.

Plustek is committed to providing high quality products and we feel this delay is necessary to meet our customers and channel partners expectations and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Discontinued via B&H plus that information from Clayne above means, at least to me, that it's going nowhere fast right now.

Hopefully Plustek can get their a$$ in gear to fix whatever problems they had with this scanner.

I dunno man, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. They've identified the issue and are now triaging it. Putting things on hold until they resolve it is the right thing to do from an integrity standpoint.

I have an LS-9000 so I don't actually need a Plustek 120, but I still support them in their efforts and I have confidence they'll work out the issues. I wouldn't count it out yet by any means.

"Discontinued" on the B&H website doesn't mean that it's actually discontinued. It just means that they won't be getting the product. I've seen them label items "discontinued" before when the items where still in production.

That being said, one does have to wonder what the hell Plustek is doing. This whole medium format scanner thing seems to have been a disaster so far. First there were numerous long delays because they said they wanted to get it right and now it seems that they didn't even do that.

Plustek USA has an update, saying they would resume shipping as of May 14.
