Where is the "wax seal"

Can someone post a picture? I've always looked for them on my Ms and I never see it. Am I blind or just stupid?

Look at the 12 o'clock position on the lens mount. There's a little screw right there that holds the mount flange in place. That screw at 12 o'clock is (sometimes) covered with a wax seal.

The wax seal only appeared through the M4 (M3, M2, MP, M4 &etc); on these cameras, it is at 12 o'clock on the bayonet mount.

(The '92' here indicates that the camera was serviced by Don Goldberg, a "factory-original" camera will have an unbroken seal with a scripted 'L')

Top dead centre on the lens mount.

3/16" black or red dot. Normally you can see the Leica L stamped in unless it's been opened by other than the factory.

Thanks for all the great replies! I never figured to look at those screw openings. Turns out my M3 has the original L seal (just as I had already assumed).
