As a person who prefer 35mm lenses over anything on RF cameras, I often wonder when will Cosina release the second version of this very capable lens.
I only want two things:
1. Closer closest-focusing-distance
2. Smaller lens
I don't give a hoot what mount (LTM or M) as long as they have one in black
Who else think like me on this one?

Could be nice... but I think CV probably views the 35mm 1.4 as the replacement.
I am in for a matching pair, 35mm II and a matching 50mm Ultron.
And I will even take them at the size of the current 35U.

Moi aussi. I prefer the bokeh from the Ultron 1.7 and would probably buy one for the NEX-7.

Either they fix the focus shift on the ƒ1.4, or a new 1.7 wouldn't be too bad.

i've got a 35/1.7 modified by krosya to focus down to .7m. it's a really, really useful mod.

OP: great point. I mean, CV is already coming out with a V2 for the 35/1.2. Now the 35/1.2 is a fine, fine lens, but the 1.7 is no slouch. I've seen some lens tests with the 1.7 running with the best of them. The main problem with the 1.7 from my point of view is how often users report mechanical breakdowns and consequently, disuse.

Do you lose anything with this mod?
If it's possible at all, why don't CV did it in factory?

no setbacks, really, it still focuses to infinity perfectly. this mod can also be done to the 50/1.5 nokton. it must be fantastic to get a close focusing nokton, but i guess i wouldn't have the skills to do it.
there was a thread about doing this mod, but i couldn't find it...
