Howdy, compatriots.

I am in search of buying a new (preferably) Monochrom.

I have searched high and wide, but there is no stock anywhere.

What is your secret? Where did you buy yours? Any advice?

I have a Leica M on order, but frankly, I think the Monochrom is the better fit for how I shoot.

Let me know if you have a reliable and reputatable source.

More recommendations welcome...

I think someone on this community beat me to the punch. The Precision Camera Leica Monochrom is now sold. Sadly.

So all suggestions welcome of other places to purchase a Monochrom.

Keith,

I've learned from past experiences, searching for a new tabbed 50mm Summicron, to ask to please send me a PM with the info. vs posting it here, since there are lots of unscrupulous sobs lurking these forums . Legal, yes. But ethical?

Regards,
Robert

David Farkas from Dake Photo: http://www.dalephotoanddigital.com/_e/gdept/15/Leica_Store.htm

or call Tibor at Samy's Camera 323-938-2420 (he isn't online but he's the best!)

good luck!

My 'secret' was to develop a good, long-term relationship with my dealer (going on 15 years now), have my name put on a list, and send him a large deposit up front. Instantly moved my name to the top of the list, but it still took three months.

Doesn't sound like the availability has improved all that much, so if the suggestions from others don't work out, you might want to try methods such as the ones I've mentioned.

I got on a long list, secured my place by a deposit, and now I'm on the top and number one. The long-long wait has been good for me because it allowed time to sell some excess gear and save money.

In the meantime I've been doing research on computers, printers and learning all about digital because its all new to me.

I expect a call this week about delivery. Also know I went with one of our trusted sponsors who has provided great service in the past (Pop Flash).

Murphys Camera in Louisville did have some. I was on a list for both the 35 lux and the MM. The lux came in after about 4 months but the MM was still on order. I called Murphys becaseu I saw that they had one at that time but by the time I called it was gone. Got on their list to and in Nov. I got a call from Kevin Murphy saying it was in. I think they had gotten a few in since.

Got mine from Murphy's camera last week.
Try Looking Glass Photo in Berkely. They had one about two weeks ago but I did not get it since the s&H $85.

Kurland Photo received 5 samples in December. They called me but I turned it down. I was not ready at that time. But I caved in a month later and called around again.

Since I live in NYC add 8.75% sales tax onto the $7995.00 price if I bought at Kurland. This is a stiff premium for me.

Next Thursday is my scheduled delivery. The wait has been as brutal as the financing. LOL. All good.
