I tried ordering 250 feet Thursday and yesterday I received the response that F.E. is out and does not know when they'll have more in. Naturally there is a waiting list to join and to hope for news sooner than latter.

The trick with buying XX is to enroll your buddies who are still shooting bl/w film. If you get enough of them willing to chip in - buy a case load - either 10 or 20 reels of 400 ft stock. It is a high initial outlay, but look on the bright side - you wont be buying film for quite a while. So 20 rolls of 400ft of XX is $2500 + - BUT it also represents 1400 rolls of 37-38 exp film!
I am down to 7 cans at the moment and I think I will celebrate the New Year by stocking up on at least 10-15 cans ( at least 5 that will go to friends anyway).
The 400' can sounds a lot - but 70 rolls does not last that long and I also find that the fact that you have a lot of film on hand, also mean that you shoot more and thus get more and better pictures to work from.
I rather forego another lens or camera body for more film anyway!

If anyone here wants to start a little hobby selling pre-loaded 36 exposure rolls of the stuff I'll be first to place the order

i traded for some XX with Leo(see post # 17 above) and was quite happy with the transaction. i doubt i'll be buying a 400' spool any time soon, but i would probably split one with someone if they had the means to put it into cassettes.

Leo (post 17) was kind enough to agree to post over the pond here to the UK and the film arrived today exactly a week after we corresponded. So much looking forward to trying this stock and thanks to Leo.

FYI - I have some listed in the classifieds, a fellow on eBay was spooling it up and selling it a few rolls at a time and I managed to accumulate some that I'm now selling.

And me 4. I bought 20 rolls that I am sharing with another RFFer. I received it promptly, and Leo shipped it out even before he received the money.
Now to test it. I plan to shoot at ISO640 and Diafine it, while my friend , I believe, wants to use D-76, though I'm not sure at what speed.
