Dear All,

I browsed through the old threads and called Photo Suffren. They said they no longer sell the R-D1.

I've also checked out the ebay store, but there's custom fee and tax involved, plus most of the time there's nobody home to wait for the UPS or FedEx.

If you know any place or anybody in Paris that is selling the R-D1(s), new or used, please let me know. Thanks.

The Epson store :
EPSON PHOTO EXPERT 76 Bld Beaumarchais, 75011 Paris

I walked by today and there was a RD1 on display, so I guess they still sell it. Bonne chance !

LCT: It shows 1672 euros at the link. Why did you say it's 2000 euros? Sorry I don't quite understand that.
'HT' means 'hors taxe' (out of tax) i.e. out of VAT.
The VAT rate in France is 19.6% so you'll have to pay 1,672.24 x 1.196 = 2,000 EUR, unless you purchase the body for account of a company registered in Europe.
In this case, your company will be allowed to deduce VAT (327.76 EUR here) from taxes it will pay to the French or other European administration, or even directly from the price paid to the seller with the latter's agreement.

Correct, I would add that in some cases if the good is to taken abroad straight away, it can be VAT free. But I am not sure all stores give that facility to customers, usually it is the luxury goods stores and the ones in the touristic areas.

Wow......

Then I guess I'll just have to pass on this one.

The reason why I'm looking for a R-D1 is because film developing cost 5 times as much as back in Taiwan. For 3 euros we can get one roll of negative film developed and scanned into 6-mega-pixel files. In Paris it's 15 eruos and the files are only 3-mega-pixel.

By the way, a R-D1s costs 1400 euros in Taiwan.

I'll keep looking. Thanks for the info though.
