Anybody knows of a store in London selling Rodinal? It seems to be quite difficult to find here in the UK, even from online stores. Retro Photographic (http://www.retrophotographic.com) sells Calbe R09 / Adox APH09 which is described as "the original Rodinal formulation (Ur-Rodinal)", is this a significantly different product from what "normal" (i.e. non retro-oriented) people use?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I just found out I can get Rodinal from Firstcall:

Jessops is becoming one of the few walk in places in the UK for chemicals and papers. When I was in the local one last week they had a shelf fun of Rodinal in the "new" almost clear bottles, so they must be fresh from the Agfa restructure.

as long as there is original Rodinal, I'd stay away from the Calbe version - the developer itself is quite good, no differences visible once you've adjusted for its different concentration; but the packaging sucks - the plastic bottle isn't very stable, the only one I ever bought came apart at the neck (at the 'seam' where the two halves of the bottle are welded together, more exactly) before I'd even used up 2/3rds of the contents...

And even then it can depend on the branch - although I've found tht if what you're after (if it's not too obscure) isn't on the shelf it can be worth asking, as the one I tend to use keeps a lot of chemistry in the stock room but doesn't advertise the fact (even by putting bottles out where customers can see them!).TPPhotog said:

Good point Mark it's the same with some of their stores down here. Also my local one is very good as it can usually get anything they have on their books in within 3 days and then give me a call to say it's ready for collection.
Although a lot of people knock them, they have in the past openned their doors early for me when I've been desperate for film and had a studio booked to get to. Sometimes I'm useless at organizing.
