I finally moved completely out of Rochester to NYC. I love it here but one thing i really miss is my local Walgreens in rochester. They knew me very well and did a great job with my negatives. So where do people in NYC specifically the upper eastside go to develop color negative film? I typically get developing only and tell the guy doing the work to not cut the negatives (easier to batch scan with my coolscan). Anybody do similar stuff in NYC??

They go downtown. Adorama's developing service I hear is pretty good.

I thought adorama didn't do film developing anymore. At least i can't find out if they do on their site.

LTI is a great suggestion.

Duggal is the choice of commercial/advertising firms, they do all requests. but the dip and dunk c-41 is expensive compare to E-6. i think is $11 or $13 for a 36 roll last time I checked, so I normally don't use them for C-41 if it is not critical.

Duggal charges $7 or $8 per roll for Develop only c-41.

Are you sure?
Back in October I had 3 rolls of Ektar100 to develop only, was told dip and dunk will take 24 hours and is about $11 something plus tax. Of course they also have 1-hour mini-lab machine which I guess it is cheaper.

The solution is to not be in a hurry and avail yourself of new sponsor Precision Camera's great offer: $11.99 for a 36 exposure high res scan, plus free C-41 developing for RFF members. Doesn't get much better than that.

I did use LTI while I was on vacation in NY this summer. The work was ok but the people weren't particularly friendly. If you want to deal with nice people, I hear The Small Darkroom (http://www.smalldarkroom.com) is very nice, though it's a bit more expensive. There's also a place called L&I at the Flatiron building that's supposed to be good.

wow those prices are expensive. The 4x5 prices for LTI are ok since i spent that much at praus. But the C41 dip and dunk prices are ridiculous. I paid $3.15 for a 36exp roll at walgreens. I'am assuming theres no place in NYC that does 1hr develop only for this price or similar?

There are plenty but you have to find one that you like. Dip and Dunk process takes longer and more work. I do some rolls in both Walgreen and CVS but they are about $6-7 plus tax. I also used a local shop and can get $3 per roll but seems his business is slow significantly and Kodak machine breaks down often, I am not sure the chemical is fresh.

I use Primary Photographic at 195 Chrystie. They do pretty much everything, and it's all in-house.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Just want some choices. I went through a fairly exhausting process before I settled on the particular walgreens for C41 and Praus for everything else in rochester. Just trying to save some time without going through the same thing again.

Print Space is a great (and maybe the only remaining) rental lab in the city. Aside from having great black and white and color rental darkrooms, they rent time on Imacon scanners hooked up to calibrated monitors.
Oh- and the part relevant to this thread is that they offer really good- and affordable- C41 processing. Here's a link:
