Hello

I am a Fine Art Photographer.

I want to find a good list of photography grants I can apply for.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find such a list or where to look for available photography grants.

Also, I know some of you have already created your own database of grants. I would be very grateful, if you saw fit to share some of the names of those grants.

Finally, does anyone know where I might find a good "grant writer" for the arts?

Thanks

Yeah, that would be the kind of information I am looking for too. I have written many grant applications over the years, but I need a good list as well.

First Place that comes to Mind

Brooks Institute for Photography in California.

Second... Visit and Chat with any State's Scholarship Commission. I used to do some work with the Oregon State Scholarship Commission. They had a largish paperbound book of grants, scholarships, etc. It was amazing at that time (Mid 70's) how many of these items went un-applied for because of the private nature, and obscurity of the funding agencies available.

Thirdly, there are private entrepreneurs who make a tidy living by finding such funding at your request. They make their money on commission and it's a lucrative and legal business enterprise. I knew a lady who was making about $75k a year counseling and locating educational funding for student families. BEWARE $ up front scammers, or on-line enterprises. There should be a few of these people you can "face to face" with in any sizable community and who should have Chamber of Commerce and Dunn & Bradstreet credentials.

If a sub forum ever gets started I will share my experiences and post links to upcoming deadlines. Perhaps someone can suggest starting a sub forum to the bosses?

Words of wisdom folks. Networks, collectives, foundations are the reality right now.

I proposed this a year or two ago but perhaps I'll repeat.

Perhaps a forum dedicated to how working folks are moving forward right now? Grants, pursuing assignment work etc. how does one get started.

We have a few folks in the know here. Could be a real asset to the forum
