I am trying to find Max 400 TMY-2 and cannot find it. I did find some on 120, but not in 35mm. I appreciate you opinion on using TMY-2 versus any other TMY. Thanks, Pepe.
I thought "TMY-2" is all current production 400 Speed TMAX?
according to wikipedia "In October 2007, Kodak revised the 400-speed film, giving it the name TMY-2 instead of TMY. In the process Kodak increased the resolution from 125 lines/mm to 200 lines/mm, which is on par with their 100 speed film." That was 10 years ago, I think Kodak-Alaris is simply using the 400TMY designation now.
What Bob said. As far as I know, all the "new" T-Max 400 is TMY-2, so it shouldn't be hard to find in 35mm. Try Freestyle. What I have seen on the web looks great w/ this film. My preference is for Tri-X because I like its tonality and grain, but from what I have seen, you can get great tonality w/ T-Max too if it's developed properly. If you don't develop it properly, you get an almost grainless, digital look w/o much in the way of deep blacks and bright whites which I don't much care for, and no, I have no idea what type of development gives you which look because I haven't made any tests w/ this film. There's one roll in my Nikon right now, but I have yet to finish shooting it. The link below gives some ideas on the developer choices.
