where to get a broken/blacked out m3 rangefinder unit

any idea where to get a complete rangefinder unit which is defect in terms of cementing/oxidation of the balm/ oxidation of the rangefinder patch.

You might try Don at DAG... I believe he has the most Leica parts and might have what you need.
