Where to get cheap negative sleeves in the EU?

Now that I'm developing my own b/w, I need a stock of negative sleeves. Can someone point me to a supplier with sensible prices who will ship to Luxembourg, also for a sensible amount?

I need sleeves for 120 (4 horizontal strips of 3 ideally) and 35mm (7 horizontal strips of 6).

I'm considering other options like envelopes + contact sheets but for the time being sleeves seem the most elegant solution.

The best -- which I believe are made bt Printfile, see here:
http://www.rogerandfrances.com/photoschool/mt print file.html -- are not a lot more expensive than the worst, but MUCH easier to use and better for your negs.

Silverprint has them in the UK but if need be you can probably find someone nearer from Printfile's own web-site (link on the page given above).

Printfile is on my list as being interesting but I'm having trouble finding a place that stocks the range and will ship to me for a reasonable price. Silverprint for example has a £100 minimum order for overseas which is more than I would be spending.

Where do you get yours in Aquitaine?

they have english pages
i biught 100 for 120 and 100 for 35mm, exactly the one you need (4x3 frames and 7x6 frames fit nicely into my scanner so prefer to cut them that way)
I bought pergamen ones, but the shop has a few different types.
I am sure you can get it to luxembourg.

Besides, the owner Robert Vonk is a rff and photo.net member, u can contact him through rff as well:)
 
Thanks, Pherdinand. I normally pick mine up either in the UK or USA.

But £100 (call it 125 euros) is depressingly easy to reach nowadays as an order...

Thanks, that looks promising. What do you think of the pergamen ones? I guess it might be easier to get the negatives into the sleeves, but are they translucent enough to make inspecting the negatives easier?

Matthew,

The pergamen ones are translucent just enough to identify the frames. For a good inspection of the film you have to fish them out. But i like them.

Is it easier to put the negatives in? I find teasing negs into normal plastic sleeves to be really fiddly, at least with the unknown brand ones I have at the moment.

Dear Matthew,

A handy trick is to trim the very corners of each strip at 45 degrees, cutting off a tiny corner abouy 1-2mm on a side. They then slip into any holders easier.

Thanks for all the links guys, very useful for future reference. As it turns out I was able to get some sleeves locally. Probably would have saved a few pennies buying online but it saves the hassle of shipping and waiting.

I ended up with two brands, both made of the parchment stuff. One lot is Kaiser and the other is under the Hama label, though who knows who makes them. I had one of those annoying experiences where I bought 25 of each size in one shop at ok but not great prices, and then found a box of 100 of the 35mm size in another shop for €20 - pretty good considering I don't have to pay shipping.

Both brands look to be good quality and have the usual claims of archival soundness - only time will tell.

By the way, I just developed my first roll of 120. It went fine but I struggled a bit with the Jobo reel. With 35mm I can load the reel in about a minute but the 120 caused much sweaty fumbling in the changing bag because the end going into the reel kept curling and coming off the 'tracks'. Grrrr.
