Where to get film

The better half and I are contemplating going to Australia and I want to save the hassle of carrying film with us. Are there any places in downtown Sydney to pick up C41 film at a reasonable price? I am not concerned if it is pro or consumer variety and am mostly looking for Fuji/Kodak. Any info would be appreciated.

Are you going to have the film developed in Australia? Then buy it there. Sydney is a big, modern city. Also, films aren't all the same in different parts of the world, sort of like PAL/NTSC/etc, so film bought here and developed elsewhere might have colours that are off.

I realize Sydney is a big modern city and just wanted to know if any Sydney RFF members had any recomendations as to the best place to go for price and selection.

Is this query for real?

Where is gods-heaven sake does this guy think he is travelling towards?

Everyone knows that they don't allow cameras (even those blasted digital ones) to be brought into to OZ.

Elsewise we Americans would have too damned many pics of Dorothy that it would scare the kiddies! 😛

Hi Bob, you might want to read my message in this previous post where I discuss the better labs and places to buy film in Sydney:

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13557

You are probably best sticking to Fletchers Fotographics which are right in the heart of the city, their details are in the post linked above.

...just keep in mind that even with a stronger US Dollar film prices in Australia are not cheap, nowhere near B&H prices so don't be shocked! 🙂

Also don't worry about "film bought here and developed elsewhere might have colours that are off." Not the case, the labs I mention, while used by everyday shooters mainly cater for pro's so colour matching and chemical replenishment will be at as good a level as you will get anywhere.

Enjoy your trip!

I hear they wear funny hats there and everything is upside-down.
And the water rotates in the wrong direction when you flush the toilet!

Thanks that was what I was looking for. Your prices will not shock me as I am not a Yank.

Well, at least I know you live in T.O. I used to live there myself---right around Kingston and Danforth----anyway, that was the last area I lived in. I miss the street cars. It's the largest streetcar system in North America, by the way. 🙂

Wrong, not everyone from Ontario lives in or even near TO. The streetcars are nice though.
