Light Impressions, which was my source for archival storage materials and frame hardware, mats , cutters etc... was bought by another company as it was in foreclosure.

It's been a couple/few years since I bought stuff from them - just now I checked on the web site and they don't have any frames anymore

the person I talked to when I called, said that since the foreclosure they were trying to sell high demand items and it would likely be a year before they restock the frame stuff (if ever was my interpretation)

What's your source for frames and framing supplies ( matte boards, tape, glass, cutters etc) ? I don't need anything elaborate, just high quality aluminum frames ( they come disassembled with the hardware) and such.

Thanks

Try Dick Blick Art Supplies, they should have all you need.

Another good source for frames is Frame Destination out of Texas.

I got a catalog from them at PhotoPlusExpo. They offer a selection of kits, cut mattes, and OP-3 Acrylic to mix and match. Best savings can be achieved in bulking up.

Pretty much one stop shopping with good selection and good prices. They also do custom work.

I have been buying framing supplies from Frame Destination for at least ten years and have never been disappointed. The majority of my framing is done with 8 ply mats - these require computerized cutting to be done properly. FD does the mats at very competitive prices and with great precision. They price fairly (including shipping), over pack their shipments and are extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with.

I second Frame Destination (https://www.framedestination.com). I'm a very satisfied customer of their metal and wood frames. Very high quality and extremely good shipping. Sign up for their emails, they occasionally have deals to get free shipping.

they are independent, family-owned dealer, have everything you need at good prices and great service. highly recommend!

Update - I used framedestination , I'm very satisfied so far
it cost about $30 for a metal 11x14 frame with glass, mat, backing, hardware
I bought 4 and already have ordered 10 more

the frames are the same manufacturer I used long ago - Nielson, everything came as expected - packed extremely well

I can't believe nobody has chimed in with your "your local frame store". If we don't buy from them they will soon be closed.

I have used American Frame for about ten years, and Dick Blick on and off as well, since a good friend retired and closed his frame store. Have always had good service from both, with wood and metal frames. I've had American Frame cut the occasional mat if I was strapped for time, and they have also done wonderful oversized prints for me, with proofs available before committing to the giant sheet of paper.

I too was a Light Impressions customer. I do hope they manage to get back to the business as it was in the 90's, before the buyout and endless scamming of everyone. They appear to be trying.
