I think the first one is the J3 ... not sure about the other two though?

[edit] okay ... I must commit ... no 2 is the Summitar!

My guess is 1) Jupiter, 2) Summitar and 3) Planar. But the focal plane on the last is at a different place than for the other two.

ok I can't take it any more!!

congrats to those who got some or all right.

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS...

j-3
summitar
ZM

I'm going to do another one of these at f2.8 and include an i-61

thanks for playing!!

Ha !

What did you focus on ? Assuming the picture center, why is the Planar so far off (front-focusing) ?

Roland.

I noticed that. I focused on the little latch coming off the case. I'm going to do it again on a tripod. I blame my wobble for the front focusing.

Roland, and others, I would be curious to know what exactly it is you saw in each of those pictures to tell you which lens took which image. I ask, because I know you didn't just guess, and am interested to learn what visible differences you're discerning.

Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy,

this one was difficult and then not. Difficult because there are no OOF highlights in the picture - pretty much the same
zone all across.

Not so difficult because the lenses were shot wide open. I picked the J-3 first, based on the most shallow DOF (f1.5).
Then I picked the Planar looking at the sharpness in the corners. The last one (nr 2) had to be the Summitar.

Roland.

I didn't post my guess before the answer, but I also didn't cheat and scroll down. I did "guess" correctly, a bit of a surprise because I've owned none of them

I started with being sure the 3rd image was the ZM, partly due to contrast characteristics. I guess the the other two because of a combination of things... partly the image sizing (I figured the larger image was the J3, don't know how I sensed that, but I seem to remember something about the actual focal length of the J3 maybe being longer than 50mm?), as well as DOF and bokeh characteristics of the two.

What do I win?
