When I use the CV 15mm on a M6 I use the 15mm accessory viewfinder. But what about using the lens on a M8. There it has a calculated focal length of 20mm. Which accessory viewfinder do you use for the CV 15mm?

Something to consider:

The 21-24-28 external finder from Leica (B&H has a used one for $250) works on both bodies. If you buy two external finders for specific lenses you have paid for the adjustable Leica version (a used one of course).

This finder doesn't help with the 15mm on the M6 but you got one of those with the 15. But for all other wide angles the Leica does work on either camera at the correct viewing angle.

O.C.

I use a 21. You can buy a 20 (FSU) and it's quite nice. But the difference between a 21mm and 20mm finder is trivial, and no optical finder is 100% accurate at all distances, so why worry?

No matter what optical finder you use, you soon get used to allowing a little more (or a lot more, with the built-in M8 frame lines) or a little less.

Cheers,

R.

When I used VC 15mm on R-D1s, I had VC15D view finder and after switching to M8, I was using Contax G21 view finder but VC15D was much brighter and the difference is not that much so instead of selling VC15D and getting a Leica or VC 21mm viewfinder, I am still using VC15D view finder on M8.

In this case most use a 21mm finder, but the CV15D (15 x 1.5) = 22.5 (~21) - I probably wouldn't change it either. When I use the ZM 18mm on the MP I use the CV12D (12 x 1.5 = 18), a perfect match (and a 24mm black plastic Leica finder on the M8).

I currently use the Zeiss 21mm finder.
I also have the Zeiss 21mm ZM Biogon which is awesome on my M7.
When I put the ZM Biogon on my M8 I use the CV 28mm finder :) (because I didn't bother to get the Milich adapter/flange to automagically bring up the 28mm framelines on the M8)

I use the Zeiss finder with a 15mm lens, and find it to be the best I have ever used. The image is remarkably bright, though it comes at a price.

I use the finder that came with my 21mm Voigtlander. Works great. From the replies, it looks like there are many fine choices.

I use the VC 21 finder and although the FOV is roughly correct the perspective is completely wrong. Using a 15mm on the M8 isn't trivial, what you see is NOT what you get. That said, it's a matter of practice and with a digital system, it's pretty easy to learn.

I find the perspective more acute in the real shot that suggested in the finder.
