Thanks guys that is interesting to know. Looks like mine was the exception. Would I have kept it if I knew I could have it adjusted? Not sure but I know for sure I would have liked it more if it were quieter when I used it.

Odd how we place emphasis on such things but we do. Its part of the reason people buy expensive cars if they can afford it - one of the worst sounds I remember of objects I owned as a young man was the cheap tinny clatter of a inexpensive car door closing. I guess it's all part of the human condition to like nice things.

This thread cracks me up so thank you all for your incredible description. My M4, Rolleiflex and Olympus Pen, Pen S and Pen W barely make a sound so I guess that doesn't count. Unless we're talking silenced fire arms. If so then I would say the Pen series are the most silent. I like the sound of the Rollei 35 quite a bit. That click and the rewind has this je ne sais quoi 🙂

I have 3 Analog cameras! They are MY BEST CAMERAS AND HAD BEEN USING FO MORE THAN 22YEARS.

Blad 303FE
Nikon F5.
Canon EOS 1 ( I don't have it with me now)
I am sure there are many many more best cameras but I used only those .
