which aperture for Jupiter 12?

Optimum sharpness for most lenses is roughly in the middle of their range. For a J-12 that means something around f/8 ish. In my experience the J-12 is a very sharp and contrasty lens with great colour saturation.

I've got a good example of a J-12 and it's pretty good at all apertures - very usable all the way up to f/2.8. If I had to guess (I can't be certain because I don't do sharpness tests) I'd say it is probably sharpest and has best contrast at around f/5.8 to f/8.

The other thing is that the extreme depth of field at f8 allows you to zone focus for street shooting. Then you do not have to worry about focusing. Preset the exposure by choosing a suitable shutter speed then bring the camera up to your eye and shoot when you see something photo worthy....quicker than an auto focus.
