A Friday afternoon question...

I have a thing for black paint cameras. Not all black paint was created equal it seems. For example, the black paint on a Canon F1 is way more luxuriant than on a Nikon F3.

Are there any other examples of cameras with deep gloss black paint jobs?

Thanks!

Contax I has the best, thickest, hardest to destroy coat of black paint I have ever seen. All the engravings were done in paint, not metal. It also looks and feels very luxurious and lush.

I own 2 cameras and 1 lens with piano grade black finishes. Make that 2 lenses. Canon 135/3.5.
Canon EF & A-1
Konica UC-Hexanon 35mm 2.0.
A darn shame that the lens doesn't fit the cameras.

I've always loved the designs of Walter Dorwin Teague. This is streamlining at its best. Black bakelite is really shiny, as was the brown bakelite of my grandma's old Brownie when I was really little.

The black paint Leica MP is a little more glossy than the black paint M4. The black paint Canon 7 also has a very nice finish if you find a clean one. The black Canonets are also nicely painted.

The 0-serie replica of 2001 has some of the glossiest (and most evenly applied) black paint I've ever seen on a Leica. A very high quality job.

Forgot to mention the Leica M8.2. That had a very glossy black paint that was similar to the MP paint and not like the harder wearing, more matte "paint" used on the M9 and M240.

Based on the bodies I have owned...

1) Black cellulose lacquer of the Nikon S2 (clear winner for the beautiful bright white lettering) Gloss without ostentation!
2) M6 TTL millenium (a bit of a tart, but still beautiful)
3) Canon L1 (better the more you handle it)
4) Any early black Zeiss body

The worst, any black chrome over alloy Leica M.
