Which camera has the glossiest, lush, black paint?

Forgot to mention the Leica M8.2. That had a very glossy black paint that was similar to the MP paint and not like the harder wearing, more matte "paint" used on the M9 and M240.

I wish you hadn't said that. Now you've made me miss my M8.2.

The M9's finish is paint? I thought mine was black chrome. I'll look again.

Based on the bodies I have owned...

The worst, any black chrome over alloy Leica M.

Hey, wait a minute, black chrome isn't paint. No fair. You know, Leica black chrome looks suspiciously like the black finish on my aluminum Calphalon pots & pans. It's a low-stick, rather than non-stick anodized finish that they call "the Calphalon Surface." I wonder if that's what black chrome really is. It even wears in a way that resembles a well-used Leica. Well, I like that flat black look of my black chrome Leicas. Very businesslike! 🙂

Right now my best black paint body would be a Canon A-1...
Second best the Mamiya m645 and Pentax MX...

I prefer black chrome over black paint. A bc M4 to me looks so much better than a bp M4. And the bc is actually more Leica exclusive - you see lots of repainted black cameras but not re-black chromed. Cuz mere mortals can't pull that off. It needs to be done at the hallowed halls of Leica...

Black Chrome does not have to look so quite so ugly, but since it is not soft like anodized aluminum, but electroplated over bright nickel or dull nickel, the nuances are limited. Calphalon is hard-anodized, like hardened bicycle parts, like rims.

But I see better new finishes on decorative items than what Leica produces. On some applications it is waxed to improve the look. Nothing like the jet black iPhone, however.

Leica SL 2 in black enamel, at least it looks like an enameled car which have been gone for decades now.

Black chrome is preferred to black laquor my me at least. I dislike cameras that brass.
