I am off to Montreal, Canada for a long weekend (4 days). I will be taking my little but very capable Canon S100 to mix it up. I still love to shoot my film in addition to digital. Which camera to take? I will post photos when I get back from whatever I decide to take. I will have a mix of color and B&W film. Here are the options in a poll.

Thanks CliveC, I'm not worried about crime. I will keep my eyes open but I am not worried. The M6 has been on every trip with me and never failed. It is hard to entertain other options.

I visit Montreal about once a year. I think you would benefit from something wider than a 35mm. That's why I voted for the Nikon setup that included a 28mm lens.

In a four day trip, there is no need to carry lots of gear. The M6 with a 35/1.4 gives you a versatile set that will be great in almost all situations.

I am torn as to which to take. My digital P&S has a 24-105mm lens. So I have the wide end covered to compliment whatever I choose. The trip is short enough where I will not have a lot of time to kick myself about what I should have brought. Whichever it is...it will be fun to shoot with. They are all worthy options.

I sprung for the Rollei.
The medium format will give such beautiful renditions.
The normal lens is closer to 35mm on 35 format.
I use digital P/S all the time..
Yesterday shot some graffiti painters with both.
Rollei for 4 exposures.The Canon about 30..
The Rollei also a great into/conversation piece.
The Canon totally ignored.
Travel light. Before going do a shoot around where you are.
Feel if it works, for you. If not, the M6.
i would use color and make B/W later if reqd.
Oh Enjoy.

I love Montreal for shooting and agree w/Robert that a wider lens is a better choice. I generally prefer having a camera that does Aperture Priority when working in any big city as I find it faster for grab shots, and I'm a stickler for perfect exposure.

I voted rolleiflex for the format but seriously I'd leave the digital at home and take the M6 & the 'flex

I must admit that the FM3A with 28, 40, 50 and the 105 is looking very tempting. Why? Mostly because I have always opted for the M6 to take on a trip. Too many lenses...maybe. I'll take the 50mm f1.2 just because it creates really nice photos when its at f1.2. Thanks for all the replies. It's been fun to see what others have thought. Even my wife asked this morning what I was going to pack.

Agreed. I have family in Montreal, and IMHO you need something wider than 35, even wider than 28. I'm not saying buy a new lens, but a 24/25 seems ideal on the M6.

When I went to France last year I came fully armed with two Leica M cameras with a couple of lenses each, an X-Pro, a LX-5, and a Rolleiflex. I ended up using the Rolleiflex the most, with the X-Pro a close second. The Leicas were more or less unused.

I found the Rollei's square format to be good in alleys and narrow places, and I simply enjoyed using it. The X-Pro was used at night, amd for snap shots, my girlfriend used it for the most part.

I am going on vacation tonight, and I have brought a Nikon SP, a Leica M4M, the X-Pro with it's recently acquired 14mm lens, and the Rolleiflex. I will be shooting mostly slide film this time around, the southwest of America is colorful. I will do a bit of B&W shoothing in the ghost towns (what is left of them) and such.
