Which kind of camera you use for street photography?

One of the best street photographers - one of the best *photographers* - I've seen is Shinya Arimoto. He shoots MF and usually with a Hasselblad SWC and flash on the streets of Tokyo.

It makes a lot of fun lurking through Paris with a M3 and a 50 mm lens mounted, scale focussing and hiding behind cars or something...makes me feel some kind of retro-style.

But to be honest...if I want to photograph street scenes with 35 mm (and there is a reason a lot of people switched to this focal length a few decades ago) and want to do this using film then I would use a Konica Hexar AF in nearly every situation. It's a nearly perfect camera for this purpose.

Too sad once in a future all models will be dead and unrepairable...but hopefully this moment comes after I perished from this world.

When I have tried to shoot "street", which is not very much, and certainly not done well, and certainly no more, I used an Olympus XA, or a Fujifilm GA645, or a Ricoh GR1, or a TLR. Basically anything.

it would be interesting to show poll results by year - I suspect that over time, the type of camera used would tend towards mirrorless e.g. Leica Q, Fuji, m4/3, Sony, as these cameras become more capable and widespread.
