Now 🙂, same as before - film RF with 35 lens (I have some examples in "Ontarian Leicas" thread) and in late 2017 I became more confident with tiny 28mm on small LTM camera and on M-E later on. The tiny size of 28 lens was helping to get much closer with 28, then with 35. But I still have to practice with it and 28mm lens was sold to get much faster, but bigger 28mm lens.

My all time favorite has to be the Hexar AF, when it's working. Sadly, mine needs to be serviced :[

Second would be a tie between Bessa-R w/ 25mm lens or Contax G2 w/ 28mm, 35mm, & 45mm lenses.
The G2 lenses smoke the Bessa in terms of sharpness and image quality, but scale focusing on the Bessa is much quicker.

Not sure what constitutes "street photography" these days. But no matter--I use mirrorless cameras for everything now. Various Fuji models...Ricoh GR...Panasonic LX5.

Dearests,
My husband did a little extra work and told me I was a bad girl and shall to be punished! Well. We are both "of certain age" I think you say. This morning I lug my suitcase and camera bag to the door and he is giggling. "Enjoy your punishments," he said.
I am at working and open the bag and he has stolen my X100 and there is new X100F model.
"Just you wait till mama gets home," I say to him!

He is most darling.

Today's flavors are a Yashica Electro35 GS for film and Fuji X100s (with both TCL & WCL) for digital. Back as a working newspaper guy, I mainly used one of my D2H bodies with either a 10-24mm or 18-200mm. Today I am mainly trying to follow the footsteps of HCB using the Yashica (45mm) and the X100S w/TCL (50mm).

A GAF L-ES with a 35mm SMC f3.5 Takumar. It's an odd combo, but the L-ES gives me auto exposure with any single pin M42 lens. Also quieter than I would have thought.

Next week ? Who knows?

The last two years: fuji x-100t; fuji x-t1; leica M-E; Leica M6; Epson R-d1x. With a variety of lenses ranging from the CV 4.5/15 to the Fuji 1.2/56. My favorite lens is the Zeiss 2.8/28 but sadly enough, it has, again developed the dreaded 'wobble' and I'll try to get it fixed in Saigon one of these days.

Sony A6300 and ZM 50 Sonnar; ZI with 35mm f2 Biogon; Rollei 35SE 40mm Sonnar. This is after many years of carrying a H'blad 500C and 100mm Planar both here in Australia and internationally. I like Zeiss lenses .

Peter.

I tend to use small format cameras for street. My personal preference is a quiet, digital compact with an articulating LCD. Occasionally, I have used a medium format TLR.

Update:

The Fuji X-Pro2 mirrorless in the totally silent electronic shutter mode and mounted with a 23mm f/2 lens is now my personal favorite street photography camera.

The most important need is a very responsive camera.
My old Nikon-F's are very quick.
At moment using a 1965 model with 50mm f2 Nikkor, same age.
M3 is my favorite film camera, usually used for EVERYTHING.
Camera used almost everyday, street, portraits, family and friend gatherings, a toy camera! Small digital..
There is no difference in using SLR or RF.
Rollei and all twin lens useless.
Too many conversations..

It has always been my dream, which I'm now living, to own a Leica, but to me the Ricoh GR will always be king when it comes to Street Photography. Plus the Olympus 75mm and any m43 camera if I wanted to go telephoto. The GR's so small that I could easily have both on me.
