Which Leatherette for Debadged M4-P?

So, I couldn't find any posts specifically covering this topic, and figured it may be helpful to others undergoing this project. Let's say hypothetically, if I committed the blasphemous act of removing the big red Leica logo from my M4-P, and there was no stopping me, what Leatherette from Aki-Asahi would fit? Leica M2 leatherette, no self time with lever rewind? Or is there subtle differences in the dimensions of the bodies that this wouldn't work?

There really isn't any size difference among all the M-bodies. However, given that you "defaced" an M4-P and want the evidence to disappear... Yes, the M4-2 leatherette should do.

May I ask you to explain how you went on doing this? I'm sure it wasn't too hard but a little heads up to keep in mind if I decide to do it myself. Got a picture?

The M4-2 cover was a great idea.
 
I just checked. My M4-P has no frame-line selector and neither has the M4-2, so you're safe. An M2 leatherette may (with emphasis on "may") have a guard around the lens release button, so it wouldn't work.

As for removing the red dot... it's relatively easy because it's just glued to the camera. But it's metal, not plastic.
 
Fjall, I imagine it's probably a matter of dabbing the red logo with some alcohol, waiting a couple of minutes for it to break the glue bonds, then just prying it off. After which, clean up the rest of the body where the leatherette goes of any residue, then apply the new leatherette!
 
Look up a thread titled Sentimental M by jwicksana. This thread shows my old anniversary M4P after I had Youxin do a bunch of work on it. Some of that work included removing the red dot and replacing the vulcanite with Aki Asahi leatherette. Justin wrote the initial post and I saw that it was my old camera that he had bought from the rff member I sold it to.
