Which Light Meter ?

For those of us that use Selenium meters there is always the option of having them repaired with new cells.

George Milton and Quality Light Metric Co. Hollywood, Ca.(Tel: 323 – 4672265) rate very highly on several forums.

I have a few Weston VIs and Vs I hope to be sending him one by one over the next twelve months for servicing, so I can keep a couple for my meterless cameras and a couple for trades. Properly cared for they should useable for many years.

If I had the budget for a good handheld digital I think I would buy another spotmeter. Long ago, I had a Minolta spotmeter, as well as a Minolta digital incidental in my kit and the spotmeter was always my first choice for existing light work.

Cheers 🙂

Sean,
The question for me today, is quite simple: with which type of cameras do you want to use your porspective meter ?

If you want to use it together with an auto-exposure camera, in order to have aditional incident readings, then a Selenium meter for ocasional use will be no problem.

BUT if you want to use it with non light metering cameras, like for example a TLR or a Soviet RF, which by themselves are slow to operate, then the purchase of a Selenium meter should be done alonside the purchase of a pillow, to catch a good sleep, as you will increasing the technical fidling until you actually shoot.

Cheers,
Ruben
