Ok, I am an early purchaser of an M8 which has just finished the Solms' upgrade and is in the process of return shipping. I just rec'd my USA letter to get a 30% discount on a new lens. Which one to buy is the question. I am a newbie when it comes to Leica's and only bought my first, an M7, 3 years ago. Myu current lenses include a 35mm Summilux, 50mm Summicron, Tri-Elmar 28-35-50mm and a 90mm Summicron. I have been leaning towards a 75mm Summilux. Any suggestions from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Ditch the 50 'cron, use the cash for a 75 'lux and use the rebate towards a Noct. It might be a little more cash than you hope, but you'll get two very nice lenses.

Either that or use the rebate towards the (outstanding) 28mm f/2 'cron.

Zeiss Biogon 21mm f2.8 :D Under one grand from Popflash!

Leica rebate- I'm still waiting for mine but if it comes it's either a 28mm Summicron or the 35mm Summilux. Yes its down to those two lenses. Or perhaps a 50mm Summilux or...

Sell the 50 'cron.
Sell the Tri-elmar.
Sell the '90 'cron.

Get the 50 and 75 lux.

Think wider: 28mm at least if not 24 or 25...

The 50mm Summicron is now your short-tele of choice.

Consider selling the 90mm Summicron (I sold mine) and buy a used 90mm Elmarit or Tele-Elmarit. (You'll now use a 75 more than your 90.) Use the cash to buy another battery, more SD cards, M8 handgrip, IR cut filters you'll need over the two Leica will ship in a month or so and the case or bag of your choice to give this spendy camera some protection when not in use.

Then there's the new disk drive you'll need for your computer...

If you're thinking about a 75, check out the ASPH summicron- outstanding lens and significantly smaller and lighter than the summilux.

What Jeff said. And at the other end, consider a 24mm/f2.8 which I think is a 32mm focal length on the M8. I use this lens on an M7 and it is truly excellent.

I basically have no wishes- so I ordered the lowly Elmarit 50 - it must be nice to be able to slip the camera into your pocket....

It is not a good idea to sell the TE. It is a powerhouse when photographing on the (ski)run.

as above the 75 lux is available used at much lower prices than the discount. I decided to get one, a "mint" for $1984 on e-bay yesterday. I'm leaning toward the APO 90 with the discount. But that APO 75 is a great lens.....Peter

Or the last generation 35mm Summicron non-asph and more of a 50mm FOV then a 50mm Elmarit.

Anyone out there who can comment on the new 28/2.8 Elmarit ASPH? Small and light sounds great to me, how does it perform?
