Dear Friends,

Kindly inform me which Nikon RF lenses will fit a Kiev or a pre-War Contax, accurately, without any reform ?

Thanks in advance,
Ruben

I've tried all my Contax lenses (50mm, 85mm,and 135mm) on a Bessa R2S, which was made for Nikon lenses and they focused fine in spite of different specs, but I haven't tried it the other way, i.e., Nikon lenses on a Contax.
Tom Abrahamsson may know.

I have tried some of my Nikkors on a Contax IIa and on a Kiev 4. The 35f1.8 doesn't really want to fit! The 35f2.5's fit and the VC lenses (21/25/28 fit). Most of the 50's are freely interchangable, though for some reason my SC Sonnar 50f1.5 (the new one) is a very tight fit in the Contax IIa. I havent tried the 25f4 nikkor and considering the scarcity of that lens and the strange internal focus I will refrain from doing so.
My prewar Biogon 35f2.8 does not fit the Contax IIa - very irritating as it is a great lens. But it does work on my Nikon S2's and S3's so that will do.
Interestingly enough it seems like the Nikon mount is more flesible than the Contax mounts. I often use my Tessar 28f8 on a S2 ( mind you, it doesnt couple to anything) and also the old 21f4.5 Biogon, though it tends to stay on the Contax IIa.
I know I should get a pre-war Contax II, but the fact that my IIa has a working shutter precludes getting one of these. HATE fixing those shutters!!!

accurately

The only actual answer would then be : absolutely none.

Then...

Bottom line is that I'm getting mystified myself with this (I mean : with questions still coming in about this) because it's probably been the most discussed topic when the Contax and Nikon RF systems are both over the map. There is even a famous article somewhere that speaks of something that quacks although not being a duck.

Nikon finders for Contax

Nikon finders for Contax

The 25, 28 and 35mm finders in Contax boxes are the same as the standard ones for Leicas and later Nikon (post S) cameras, except for the shoe. In addition to the larger notch noted for fitting around the pin of a Contax, the shoes are longer and incorporate leaf springs because the Contax shoe has no springs of its own. Of course, the earliest Nikons had no shoe springs either.

Online sellers who either don't know what they are selling or do know it but want to gather more potential customers.

Did you never read this :

actually ? Couldn't believe it. That said...

Well you can mount these Nikkor-H-C and Nikkor-S-C lenses on your Kiev with no mechanical problem but you will have focusing problems especially at close focusing distances and infinity, particularly if you shoot at wide apertures.
