Hi to everyone 🙂, I really need your help now...

Well, never used an RF camera, I bought an R-D1, I wanted it for a long time and it was a bargain for me.
Now I need some lenses, of course ... 🙄

I have thought the 28mm focal length for general purposes and 50mm for portraits and moreover, my interest are the color prints 16x12" up to 24x20", sometimes more, rarely less, well saturated, warm colors and pasty (Early color Saul Leiter style, for instance 😉).

Please, which ones, in your view, the best lenses?
All your experiences are very important for me, because relly I'm new in RF lenses. 😱

Cosina Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 Nokton and Zeiss 25mm f2.8 ZM are very, very good lenses for the R-D1 and give you great value. -- Each is less than $1000. Those are my two most often used lenses on my R-D1S. CHeck out my Jerusalem and Cairo photosets.

Now, if you want the ABSOLUTE BEST (depending on how you define that), then the Leica lenses that cost $2000 to $3000 (or higher) would have to be in that conversation.

As I have no experience with those, others will have to step in.
 
Great shots for you in Jerusalem and Cairo, Keith, Nokton and Zeiss could be an interesting choise.
I don't know if new Leica lenses are for my wished photography, maybe someone of older, but I don't Know... thanks!
Hi, Akiva, I have heard many appreciations for CV lenses 28/1.9 and 50/2(.5?), but maybe they are low contrast, do you think it could be the right choise for strong enlargement?
 
Apart from the suggestions above, get a good M to LTM adapter and you opened yourself to a whole world of screwmount lenses that have both good price and good optics. Including old Leica lenses, FSU lenses, Canon lenses, CV, etc.

I'm loving my Canon LTM 28/3.5 and Canon LTM 35/2.8 on the R-D1, as their lower contrast produces very easy-to-work-with files (no blown highlights).

And the CV Nokton 50/1.5 is great too -- very sharp, and easy to focus, I find.

Also, the Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2 is a great lens, and its FOV perfectly fits the 35mm framelines on the R-D1.

it's late for me in Italy now, but I'm happy for your replies...
I've seen something on Canons on Luminous-Landscapes, they seems great lenses, and nokton too... but maybe they are better for B/W, isn't it?
 
I woud not take current lenses for Leiter-like pictures (too sharp) but i would not take too early lenses either if you want saturated colors.
Then a Summilux 50/1.4 from the eightees (code number 11114) could be a good idea as well as an Elmarit 28/2.8 from the same period (code number 11804).
As cheaper alternatives, you could not go wrong with a Summicron 50/2 from the seventies or eightees (code number 11817, 11818 or 11819) and a Rokkor-M 28/2.8 which is close to the Elmarit above in a smaller package, but beware of white spots on the glass with the Rokkor.
Here two pics with a Summicron 50/2 # 11819 and a Rokkor 28/2.8, but nothing to do with Leiter i'm afraid...

No, LTC, sorry, nothing to do with Leiter, but don't worry, these beautiful images and lenses are great, for real life.
Anyway, I don't exclude however the summicron third series, perhaps also fourth series, for then to manage the film on the r-d1 so that to saturate extremely the output image.

My primary lens is an LTM. It's the CV Ultron 35/1.7. Then I looked and waited for a long time to get an old Summar 50/2 (LTM of course). These two lenses gave me very different pictures. Appropriate for ranges of scenes and lighting.

You might consider konica hexanon m. I used the hex 50 and the hex 28. They are good bargains for the image and construct quality (better than VC). You can always process your pic to get the look you want, if you found those lens too sharp...
