Which one's sharper?

Maybe just a wee ground swell. I have a long board (9'), so I don't need
big waves. Actually, I'm too old and slow for big waves.

Ooo oo, I have a 9'6" :) I'd recommend you go get one of the bigger, 10' ones, preferably with "hydrohaul" to help turn those piers -- they work very well on dinky waves. Most of my surfing buddies are as old, if not older, than my cameras so hope you never say you are too old and slow for surfing, even if for small swell

If you're in southern california, be sure to check our doheney and Old Man's down at San Onofre. My favorite places :) This was me at doheney a couple years ago.

jano, gotta stay with the 9--it's the longest board I can fit in my car so I don't have
to mess with racks. I just do it for the exercise--never was any good. But it's a
great way to clear one's head.

Ahh, okay. My rack is bolted atop the car, but it does suck trying to get the thing strapped down when the rain's out and it's freeing cold (a few weekends ago I did this -- and I was doubly cold because I had half the wetsuit off and couldn't pry myself free from it).

Ever "trunk it" in cold water? :D My coldest thus far was 52 degrees  Feel sorry for Chris up there in the northwest, that water is C O L D.

What's cool about this site? Lots of people with similar interests :)

Us southerners can't handle that stuff--I wouldn't attempt 52 in the suit--still gotta
get them fangers to work, dontcha know? I just want to get in the water and paddle
so I can build some muscle mass and gain weight. I weigh less now than when I was
13--forty (!) years ago. I even eat Krispy Kreme doughnuts and I STILL can't gain
weight. That's me--always going the opposite way of everybody else...

I really wanted to let this one go, you know? There are hundreds of thousands of
identity thieves and pedophiles committing genuine crimes on the web every day,
so please tell me this is a joke. It has to be a joke, right?

Fred

No, Fred it was not a joke. But reading one or two of your recent contributions to RFF, it's not surprising you'd defend him. I was trying to compare it to a scenario where, say, a commercial spammer attacked us as much as he does; you, and others, would be calling for the guy's execution.

As far as "nothing illegal committed", that's wrong. There are several stautes that would apply, they're just not commonly known. Harassment would be a well known one that applies, but there would be others that could also; it's kind of like if I were to interfere with your telephone service in an intentional way. Internet communication is the same.
