Which printer are you using to print from M8?

I don't know if the 1280 is designed for dye or pigment ink. If it's designed for dye and one uses pigment that can cause the clogging. As far as 'archival' ink goes, my feeling is that I won't be around in 75 years anyway and can, if needed, reprint from backup. I'd rather enjoy 30 years of better color, more even light reflection and be able to use glossy papers.

Wow 5 five 1280 printers, I have one (the same but called 1290 in the EU),
what is your favorite ink you use with this printer Bob ?
I use the MIS Dye in a CFS, which gives good colors but isn't lightfast at all.
I tried the MIS-pro inks but that ink clogged the printheads seriously.
Is there a good alternative for archival ink ?

The 1280 was designed for dye ink but I used the MIS pigments. I thought the MIS Pro was the best and used the Eboni K Only for b&w prints. It did have a tendency to clog compared to dye inks. And the clogging tendency got worse with age. That is why I went through five of them in six years. One of the five developed a problem quickly and was replaced under warranty.

I am very happy with my 2400. I even paid US$50 more for a 2400 than I could have bought a new model 2880 for. But I had 2400 inks and knew how it worked. Starting from scratch, the 2880 is probably the best way to go today.

MabelSound here is very happy with his Epson 1400 and MIS inks. I believe that is a US$200 13x19 printer. I suggest you check directly with him.

Another vote for the Epson R3800 or R3880. I use a R3800 with my Leica DMRs and with scans from my M6 and M2. Just stunning, esp with monochrome. It's miles better than my Epson R800. In the long run, cheaper than the 2880, as black ink changes are much cheaper.
