I don't know if the 1280 is designed for dye or pigment ink. If it's designed for dye and one uses pigment that can cause the clogging. As far as 'archival' ink goes, my feeling is that I won't be around in 75 years anyway and can, if needed, reprint from backup. I'd rather enjoy 30 years of better color, more even light reflection and be able to use glossy papers.
